We could all write a book, right?

Possibly, yes and a great way to find out is by giving it a GO!

What about writing a ‘his & her’ book that tells the same story but with different eyes? That would be something so we’ve done exactly that. Travels from HIS perspective and from HER perspective in a one combined piece of work. We agreed not to show each other our respective diaries until the final edit when it was time to combine them!

At a  time when the publishing industry endures constant change with Print on demand, ebooks, ibooks, my books and your books to master this process is quite a task. We’ve decided to GO! down the traditional publishing route and are on the way to acheiving our dream of having our book, GO! Smell the flowers published and being enjoyed by readers all over the world. 

From the summer of 2008 our manuscript for GO! Smell the flowers  will be on the desks of carefully approached and suitably aligned agents in North America, London, Australia and Dubai. As we let GO! of our baby and find the best hands to take it forward.

Our objective - To line up the most suitable publisher to take this series forward and inspire as many people as possible to GO! Smell the flowers.

Our dream start - TWO well established authors forewording our first book?

After writing up our travel journals we won a National competition that paired us up with our mentors Barbara and Allan Pease who have foreworded GO! Smell the flowers. Both true examples of flower smellers we’ve followed their advice as GO! Smell the flowers the book has blossomed.

Allan Pease has been known internationally as ‘Mr. Body Language’ since his definitive book with that title became a multi-million seller and the communication bible for organisations worldwide.

His keynote addresses, books, videos and audio programs, TV shows and advice on personal image are sought after by everyone from business executives and Prime Ministers, to TV presenters, Royalty and rock stars. His sales and communication systems have grown companies from one man bands to multi-nationals and here is is on Australian T.V revealing some of the secrets behind his succees:

Book 1 - GO! Smell the flowers

Our flower smelling career break and a quest for new opportunities turned into an amazing journey of discovery including how to plan, write and get a book on the GO! as we scribbled down the amazing experiences we were lucky enough to enjoy and survive.

We felt totally rejuvenated by the things that we did, the people we met, the places we saw and the lessons that we learned along the way.

“You really should write a book” our friends told us. 

Combining our top secret His N her journals (we didn’t show each other our journals until the editing stage)  we kept into one coherent tale peppered with experiences, lessons, quotations  - all from 2 different perspectives!

The writing process helped put some context into some of the scrapes we found ourselves, capture some wonderful memories that remind us of the flower smelling time we had. Now with Barbara & Allan Pease behind us we’re well on the way!

Book 2  - The Flower Smellers 

As word spread about this website emails started arriving and comments started flowing at the blog from others who had ’smelt their flowers’. The next step was to reconise these people and introduce our very own community award - ‘The Flower Smellers’ that acknowledges those on and offline who embody the spirit of GO! Smell the flowers as they bloom.

This badge serves to acknowledge others who are, in their own way, smelling the flowers and will underpin the whole reason for this community -to inspire countless people around the world. 

Maybe they don’t run a blog but have recovered from an illness, written a book, won the lottery, made a major shift in their life, won promotion, quit the rat race, ticked a place of their bucket list and on it GO!s as more examples from around the world start to surface and group hugs become the norm!

Taking it one step further -  flower smellers who really stand out are invited to write a 500 word account, a short inspirational tale,  about how they are smelling their flowers and will be considered to feature in our 2009 book - ‘The Flower Smellers’.

We are looking for more flower smellers so do contact us if you are one or know of others, from any walk of life, all over the world. We hope to have narrowed down  100 by the end of 2008 to feature in the book!

Book 3 - The well travelled book of quotations

As well as keeping journals we recorded inspirational quotes that summed up what we were going through at the time. This is currently being edited as a coffee table book in the making for 2009.

Book 4 - The well travelled book of recipes

We sampled the culinary delights of the places we visited, scribbling down recipes that came our way from vast array of zero to five star establishments that sustained us. From the vineyards of France and South Africa to the potatoes of Peru and sticky rice of Thailand, variety was our spice!

GO! Smell the flowers  - the online community

Several of the writers here at GO! Smell the Flowers founders are published authors, about to be published or at least have a passion for writing as we dig deep and learn from each other. The homepage of this community is a live blog scatered with various insights from around the world.

These well thought out Blog posts and the comments that accompany them all contribute towards the craft of writing as mononlogue becomes dialogue. It’s a great way to start and a place where other freelancers, writers and publishers can get involved, share knowlege and master their craft.

We enjoy sharing the ups and downs of the whole process at GO! Smell the flowers together with the bread and butter content relating to food, fun, health, inspiration and travel brought to your by our founders from all over the world.

We thoroughly enjoy the online medium that you’re reading now but after 2 years work hope to have a REAL book in GO! Smell the flowers - one the reader can read, touch and smell.
