Have You Ever Gone Vegan?

October 25th, 2007 by Jim

So do they just hate plants?

Vegans eat only plant products, choosing not to eat animal products including any kind of dairy product.  There are very few people currently living the Vegan lifestyle, perhaps because its a difficult diet to keep up or hard to come up with a lot of good vegetarian recipes that provide us with much needed nutrients.  There’s a tasty recipe for a Green Smoothie at The Raw and the Cooked that can make a ‘vegan treat’. Hmmmm.

Have you ever tried an unusual diet?  As our regulars know us flowers tried our hand at colonic irrigation as part of a 10 day fast.

My Vegan pal looks gaunt but insists she gets her nutrients from smoothy shakes. She is allergic to gluten too so pizza dough, white bread and cakes are out!

I don’t now I am a meat eater…. I love a nice thick peice of steak….
I do enjoy vegetarian food but cant see how you can live on it….
We have eaten meat for thousands of years and it has gotten us this far… why stop now… our bodies are geared for meat…. we are hunter gathers not grazers..

Gary - we’ve just recovered it! No idea why this didn’t show up as it went through comments but doesn’t show here…

GARYS LATEST COMMENT:-

‘the truth is ANYONE on a veggie of vegan diet is eating an incomplete diet. its all nonsense.

but so s the science (or lack of) behind colonics and the like!

As is detoxing in general- you have your liver and kidneys to do tat and they do it far better than ingesting some hawthorn extract ever could.

But what does the world of proven science know compared to some half baked money making scam theory?

The strangest one I did was when I was using ?sports supplements?- at one point when I was 16 stone 6 (my heaviest weight in decent shape) I was eating or consuming in one form or another 500 grammes of protein per day ad in excess of 5,000 cals a day.

I also used to set my alarm for 3.30 in the morning to have a protein shake so my body never went more than 4 hours without nutrients. The results were mad to say the least.’

Sorry for the tech hitch - we’re sorting our SPAM filters out at the moment! Ta for your patience….

Waking up at 3:30 in the morning to eat is only a requirement for me if my tummy demands it.

Named afte the man who founded our Police Force - Robert Peel.

Robert is shortened to Bob or Bobby.

They were also nicknamed ‘Peelers’ after same fella.

They do issue the bizzies, fuzz, police stun guns Fab, I’m not sure of shooters though? Depends what part of the police force they are, I think.

I occasionally eat vegan meals but only when my vegan son cooks the evening meal or I can’t be bothered to cook two separate meals for us both. It’s not too bad but I glad that I have the option to eat meat or fish whenever I want (and butter, cream, milk….)

I’m not certain I could ever go Vegan, unless forced into it. I’d miss my dairy products too much.
