GO! Daydream

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

We’re up in sunny Scotland at the moment enjoying golf trying to keep our mind on the task in hand.

Even Eminem can sing about being in the now:

How do you stay in the moment? Do tell, preferably during an out breath!

GO! Discover What’s Going On Under The Surface.

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Mike here,

The Richard & Judy Book Club has a huge effect on book sales in the UK. Yet according to our sources, Richard never reads the books: he just recommends them!

Instead Amanda Ross, the programme’s executive producer reads them together with her team.

So I’ve gone undercover and dug up some similar goings on here at Flowers …

Jim & Emma Wheat, who own & plug GO! Smell the Flowers, have never read it and their posts are written by a ghost writer.

Urban Pagan is far to busy to read Flowers and has set his computer to randomly insert comments from a bank of witty remarks he wrote when he was twelve-years-old.

Aussie Cynic is actually a twenty-one-year old student from Durham University who is basing her project for her degree on creating a virtual character.

Jonathan from Fab Photos has never sold a photo product in his life and instead spends his time as a stuntman for the new Bond film.

There’s more, but my lawyers have got a bit nervous.

What have you discovered that made you see that all was not as it seemed?

Go! Smell The New Computer!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

So, yes, finally I am in the modern world now. I finally bought a laptop computer!

In January, I was in a car accident. We finally got the settlement for the injuries I sustained in the accident. So, with part of the money I decided to get a laptop. I used to sit in this dark corner of our dining room and I was so sick of not being able to watch TV and do my work.

How exciting is that, I have never been able to go out and buy something without worrying about how much money it is so I was so excited to buy this one. I am super impressed at how fast it runs…which brings me to one of the disadvantages. A lot of the things I used everyday from my huge file of pictures is on my other computer. BUT, I am too lazy to turn that old one on because it take literally 20 minutes before I can even get on the internet after it turns on.

It’s great to take my work with me, because I already work 14 hours a day at least and 7 days a week. What have I got myself into?

What do you like about new things you buy?

Go! Snap out of it America!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Evidently, the US slump is really a clinical depression and not truly a “recession”.  It’s all in our heads.  We US Citz are evidently suffering from a psychological disease, and all we need to do is “snap out of it”.

Okay!

Excellent!

I’m all for that!  YaY!

~long pause for effect~

So, ah … erm … *looks around at the crowd* … um …
Okay.
Yeah.
Cool.
Let’s do this thing!  RIGHT!

*enter in the sound of crickets chirping*

Oh kayyyy …
Well.  Then.  I can see that the crowd isn’t responding quite the way some anticipated.  Suggestions?  Comments?  Anyone up for giving American Citizens a pep talk?  Anyone?

*the sound of crickets chirping louder*

Right.  Fine.  Sure.
Uh huh …

GO! Know your time of death!

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

It is believed that 98% of people wouldn’t want to know their EXACT time of death.

We ask YOU would you want to know your exact time of death, assuming it was pre-determined? Maybe an opportunity to smell more flowers while you still can? Do tell, tick, tock, tick, tock….

Launch Day for the Published Version of The View From Here

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Mike here,

My literary zine The View From Here launched its first monthly print edition today! Break out the champagne!

Printed on 80lb paper in full colour with saddle-stitched covers, the magazine looks awesome.

Distributed and made through HP owned MagCloud, which is in Beta at the moment, you can only get the magazine shipped to a US address, but that will change once Beta testing is finished.

We are featured at MagCloud’s site at the moment. See a full review and order on-line here.  And this is a full size magazine, not a magazine squashed into a book!

We are currently looking for articles about fiction writing, poetry writing or articles about dealing with publishers or agents, so if you want to see yourself in print go to the magazine to find out details: http://viewfromheremagazine.com

Happy days! Hick!

Go! Reach for the sky! (+)

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Well I’m going to be in bad books with the kids when they get back from their holiday in Anglesey!

I’ve had to reformat the sky+ box after trying to watch the Bourne Ultimatum on Anytime for the last four nights. Just at the dramatic bit, it stops playing and freezes. A reformat is the only cure.

Gone are all those soap episodes they’ve been following and the full series of House the middle one has been saving. A couple of Mandy’s art programs and my Thunderbirds are Go recording, along with the last episode of Doctor Who - boo hoo.

So what task have you had to do today that made you unpopular with the family?

Go! And get married!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Well, as some or all of you are aware, my big bro (and fellow founder) Bo, is getting married tomorrow to the lovely Zoe and I wanted to write a post to wish them all the luck in the world and to send them on their way.

Hopefully it will go without a hitch (ker tish) and there will be much merriment, laughter, drinking, fighting (actually scrap that last one) and an all round feeling of ‘love in the room’.

Congratulations to the happy couple and I hope they have a truly fantastic time in Aruba for the honeymoon.

Wedding stories/comments welcomed!

Cheers!!

Smell TWO cracked screens!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Hello from the U.K flower people where we are busy catching up with family and friends as we get the taste for ‘real’ weather. Emma here reporting on a small technical issues - two cracked screens in two days! My Sony A350 travel camera screen AND my ASUS laptop screen have both cracked and need replacing. GULP. At first I thought Jim had played the cracked screen prank on me but it was not to be.

http://digg.com/design/Cracked_LCD_Desktop_PIChttp://digg.com/design/Cracked_LCD_Desktop_PIChttp://digg.com/design/Cracked_LCD_Desktop_PIChttp://digg.com/design/Cracked_LCD_Desktop_PIC

I have no idea how this has happened and am trying to find the ‘learning’ behind it. I’ve realised the cracked digital camera screen will force me to look closer through the lens as I photograph our travels and not rely on the screen to instantly check my work and to trust my work and my instinct.

Have any personal ‘ disasters’ happened to you that you’ve looked at in a different perspective without going insane? Do share…
