GO! Smell the Glastonbury flowers!
July 1st, 2008 by JimAnyone catch Glastonbury 2008 as the 137,500 revellers return and put the dirty washing on?
This year, the legendary event won’t be remembered for the infamous Glastonbury mud - but for founder Michael Eavis’ controversial decision to give the premier Saturday night headline slot to New York rapper Jay-Z.
Amy Winehouse caused controversy with this performance:
Ouch.
Then up stepped rapper Jay-Z as he turned the tables on Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher:
Gallagher had insisted that headlining the main event with rap was ‘wrong’. Jay-Z then strutted out on stage with a cover of Gallagher’s Wonderwall anthem. A refreshing way to handle the criticism and one we could learn from!
All Glastonbury 2008 comments welcomed here flowers & thorns. What was the last concert you went to and do you have any planned in the near future? Do tell!

Hello All
It disheartens me when I see Amy Winehouise
Such talent
Such Beauty
Such a waste
Watching Amy Winehouse is to watch someone committing suicide but she can sing
yep to your comments Bo Snr - tragic! would have liked to hear her sing a Bond tune too.
What’s all the fuss about glastonbury? i never got it! just people living worse than cattle in a muddy putrid bog for a weekend under the guise of listening to music - i can do that at home with nice earphones or speakers whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea or sit in my garden at evening sipping a glass of wine - now that’s musical appreciation.
Besides which the bands usually sound rubbish compared to the radio played version ….. abba the movie was close enough for me.
Glastonbury - just mud - mud mud mud mud mud and more mud…

I think we must be getting old…hehe
…. actually Bo - should, that have been wast-er - i don’t remember anyone forcing her to get drunk, do drugs and give up the will to live??
A bit more Jay-Z background when he featured on UK’s Jonathan Ross show just before Glastonbury…
I was there. It was fab. Dry, warm and sunny, great music, fabulous atmosphere. There is something very special about listening to music in the open air as part of a crowd, the energy is amazing.
60,000 people singing along to Crowded House in warm sunshine on Saturday afternoon was the highlight for me….
Dianes last blog post..I’m off!

last concert..
the Cores and Brian Adams… I was on stage for the Brian Adams concert…. totally brillant..
Group hugs all round…
To everyone that has dissed Glastonbury, have you ever been?
My last concert was The Rifles, Paul Weller with a couple of bonus tickets gained for Feeder two weeks ago. Brilliant.
And I’m off to the V festival in August, http://www.vfestival.com where Amy Winehouse is supposed to be performing but to be honest I’m not actually that bothered if she turns up or not. It’s always the same old thing.
Extremely over-rated in my view.
A few mates of mine have just returned from Galasto- they have been going for about the last 5 years- they love it and keep egging me on to go- if I’d known how great Jay Z was going to be and the fact Jimmy Cliff was playing I would have gone.
Apparently its ace. brilliant fun. and the mushrooms this year were top notch.
As for Hymie Crackhouse- eeds help and is in my opinion falling out with the public now- she’ll be lucky to see 2010 if she keeps going.
