Go Smell the Warming
June 20th, 2008 by aussiecynicI know Climate Change has been done to death and to be quite frank about it I am over it.
Yep totally sick of Climate change being used as an excuse for our own selfish needs, oil, economics, and just plain greed. I thought I had heard it, until I read something today which shocked me to say the least.
DID YOU KNOW GLOBAL WARMING WAS FIRST NOTICED IN 1827. No this is NOT a typo….
1827: French polymath Jean-Baptiste Fourier predicts an atmospheric effect keeping the Earth warmer than it would otherwise be. He is the first to use a greenhouse analogy.
I thought the issue was relatively new given the talks have been around for about 30 years… dam hippies again hey Urban… but no this was not true…

Glad to read you are now “over it” AC.
Hmm does this mean that global warming no longer affects you?
It means i am so over the excuses we are given…
So rather than wait for others …
I am doing something myself …
we cut our carbon footprint years ago.. it is currently 3.2 tons per year… the average is 14… this includes travel
recycle what we can…
grow our own things…
use little water
Our power is hydro which is the main supply in Tassie..
and as the funds permit will be converting to solar panels (hopefuly the new ones) and or wind turbine..
one thing we also do is pick up other peoples rubbish litter which seems to dropped regularly around the creek and river.. and there is a duck just moved into the creek so we must be doing something right…

We’ll head over to Aussie and dig deeper, thanks for sharing - One theory is that the earth will cool / eat itself naturally in cycles anyway but with th exponential uses of CFCs et al means this will be too much even for Mother Earth to handle as she spits, floods, quakes, rains, melts and shudders to try and keep things in balance….
1827 though - now that is some foresight!

got to say I couldn’t care about global warming- it doesn’t make any difference to me
if anything I think we should have more fridges, air travel and stuff

Great article… and don’t forget the benefits of planting a tree. If we all just plant a few we can really make a difference, each one will soak up 20kgs of CO2 every year and put enough Oxygen back in the atmosphere to support 2 people.Peace
