GO! Smell the Friday 13th flowers upgrade!
June 12th, 2008 by Jim & EmWell folks, in true GO! Smell the flowers style we’re switching and upgrading our servers tomorrow - swapping from 1&1 in the UK over to our own in house controlled set up over at Flora 2000 in India and all on Friday 13th! **Shock / Horror **
We have the technology and capability to make the worlds first interactive flower smelling communinty and GO! Smell the flowers will be that blog, kind of like they did with Steve Austin in the 70’s but with more flashing lights and random features:
The server switch that RYK and the gang will be nailing will make GO! Smell the flowers better, stronger & faster and we wish the team all the best of luck with the switch and all the under the hood testwork that needs to be done. This will ensure we’ve a foundation to really grow the garden as profile, viral and variuos crowd pleasing features are developed, tried and tested during this summer.
Well that’s the general idea so we kindly request NO BLOG POSTS ON FRIDAY 13TH PLEASE during server upgrade.
Comments are fine in all posts but no new posts until Saturday 14th when the $6 million (at least Rupees) is born.
So, if you could UPGRADE anything in your life right now what would it be? Do tell, treadmills are optional.
YIPPEEE we have been waiting for this..
It will be fine you know everything will work just fine and all will be free of weeds in the Gardens….

I’d like to upgrade my husband’s 1973 Chevy truck, that he drives to and from work everyday, without air conditioning or radio. We are trying to save up the money, but we’ve had some difficult times. But, I would really like him to have a brand new truck.

Here is what we are gonna try and roll out:
1. Friday 13th - shift to new redundant failproof hardware, so no more downtime. These servers are the same that run the high traffic Flora2000 site and Remindo.com; they are Dual Xeon Raid 1 boxes with all kinds of failover built in. We should see some speed improvements
2. In the following week we are going to change from plain jane Wordpress to something call Wordpress MU which is a kind of industrial strength Wordpress, which in addition to hosting GSTF, will also allow each of you to start your own blog, if you like.
3. Next we will introduce user profiles whereby each of us can have a fully developed online profile, giving more power to your avtaar; can’t wait to see Urban’s profile
4. Then come a whole host of social features, such as adding others as friends and communicating between each other; and inviting on anyone in the world to be part of GSTF
5. Next… aah can’t give it all away (besides we haven’t worked out whats next
)
#5 is more sacred than the knights of Templar, the illuminati and the Mayan calender so good for you for not sharing the inner sanctums secrets…
