GO! Check out your LUCK on Friday the 13th!

friday the 13th watch out!

Arvind here wondering how to spend Friday the 13th.

Tomorrow it is Friday the 13th, a day considered by many cultures to be unlucky, whilst some consider to be a lucky day.

There are even a whole range of phrases that have arisen around the fear of Friday the 13th, such as paraskavedekatriaphobia, apparently a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words for Friday, thirteen, and phobia.

(Alternate spellings include paraskevodekatriaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia, and is a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a phobia of the number thirteen).

So what do you think of Friday the 13th and how will you spend it? Just another day or a day to stay in bed under your sheets?

And what new word can you think of for this day?!

you make your own luck

Well Tomorrow I will buy a lotto ticket for Saturday night
Wake up late again
do my normal stuff
and hope not to injure my self in the process

on Saturday I will decide if it was a good day or not
Check my lotto numbers and if I win Good Friday was lucky
If I loose then it was unlucky,
If I stub my toe, injure myself, break a plate or have anything which under a normal conditions would be considered bloody typical then I will blame it on Black Friday, if none of these things happen then I will be thankful for the good luck I was given..
hows that for hedging your bets… hehehehe

Friday 13th was originally only bad if you were a Knight Templar… after that it became folklore…. but it can be fun…

For those who are in need of some protection there are silly rituals and cures galore to protect them on Friday the 13th.
A few of them are:
#1 Hang your shoes out the window.(My guess is the smell will drive all the evil away!)
#2 Wear and /or eat garlic!

I will call it “FRIPHOBIA”

the days and weeks just merge at the moment and i have such an appaling memory that i only remember the day and date if i’ve got my watch on (which very handily (or should that be wristely?) shows the date and day) so i probably won’t give it a second thought and treat it like any other.

It wasn’t very lucky for rabbits (feet)!

I will call it Friday the 13th - does exactly what it says on the tin

according to my diary - we had 2 friday the 13th in 2007 (april and july) and 2 in 2006 (january and october) but only 1 this year - perhaps it makes a difference??

Greetings Arvind and this paraskavedekatriaphobia word we reckon was invented by a black cat who ran across a writers keyboard as he popped into the bathroom leaving his cup of green tea and lap top open mid paragraph…

Is it REALLY as word? ;-)

We’ve no idea why exactly Friday 13th is ‘unlucky’ aside from AC’s knights of Templar insight (they were on Monty Python, right?) but will watch out for ladders, scaffolding, falling debris, low flying aircraft and cats on keyboards.

Our name for it - End of the week when its time for wash:

Flyday the dirteenth.

Sorry, that was shocking.

Right, green tea anyone…here kitty, kitty!
