Go! Smell the Glow!

May 29th, 2008 by Purple13

jerry-1.jpgI did it! After a lot of deliberation, we finally took the step of joining a local gym to try and regain  some of the shape and fitness levels before B.C (before computers).

I arose extra early this morning (6am) to head off to the gym and do a 40min workout (well more like unlock joints) on the cycling, rowing and running machines.

I’ll progress to the more technical apparatus later on but i’m hoping to make this every other day or at least 3 times a week.

Now i’m at work and feeling glowing.I’ll ache tonight for sure but hey - no pain no gain.

And while we’re on the subject of ’sayings’ - i heard a really good one on the radio yesterday - “When God was a lad” referring to yesteryear when we were all a bit younger and fitter.

Any good saying you’ve come across or what did you do today to make you feel good (health wise)?

“When God Was a Lad, I was nothing more than a handful of dust.”

Sarah,

So if god was a lad, then he was a youth (and likely a child after having been a a baby before being a lad) who ultimately grew up……

Who raised him?

And should I worship his parents or him? Did he have parents?

Or is it all just superstitious nonsense? - Religion / god etc.

Good question, what I know is that God doesn’t has parents and because he is God, I think he is capable of doing everything on his own at any stage of life..

That is an interesting saying though. What exactly is the meaning behind it? I’m getting something like, ‘everything I am, is because of my creator’ or along those lines in meaning.

Haha, I am not yet reaching a level where I can really explain to you about that as I am still growing and learning as well..

I too went to the gym this morning.

And I’m sat at my desk eating cous cous and reading the blog.

My favourite expression at the mo is ‘Everyday is a schoolday’

Good for you Lib’ - we are a healthy bunch of flowers aren’t we?

You did ask for it ..
Hump day = Wednesday …. monday tues are all uphill but once your over wednesday its a downhill slide to the weekend.

Poets day = Friday …. P&^% of early tomorrow is Saturday

In response to how I am ….
I am older than God and he was a very naughty boy but his sister was worse…
that ones gets the looks but you have to say it with a straight face…

Hubby tried the gym but thought oh sod it and lite another smoke.

Hmm there you go..
btw I used to go to the gym, step machine, aerobics, step classes, etc.. then decided I could do the same job walking at lunch… it worked I hurt just as much after my up and down hill hour or so walk as I did at the gym, the only difference I didnt embarass myself in those shorts…. ;)

Purple13 Says:

Yessss….. the fashion is a problem - all those designer outfits and of course - the bag and all the shiny new trainers and ipods everywhere - so i suppose i was a breath of fresh air - with me Sainsbury’s carrier bag (recycling). me tatty trainers i knocked the mud off last night and my decidedly un fashionable long shorts (bloomin eck - they weren’t that long for the desert rats!). Oh and no ipod (boo hoo).

aussiecynic Says:

My fashion statement was bike shorts a t-shirt, ankle socks and joggers, which were gardening pair….
yes and the gym was designers leotards, designer shorts and those horrible singlet style t-shirt tops… nike joggers and tennis socks… it was funny… but I dont even an ipod …… I do have a walkman and cd’s..hehehehe

Drank my coffee and stared at the treadmill thinking, “that is a really good treadmill. It has lasted ten years and there are not problems. I should start using it again! But, I’m too tired. Need more coffee.”

aussiecynic Says:

I sold my 10 year treadmill it was brand new never used.. it just sat there taunting me….
truly it did… it would say come on I know you want too, just turn me on we can go for a spin…
but I knew the minute I turned it on and started going for a walk it was going to get me.. hehehehehe..
so I left it turned off, safer that way…. lol

I was using it almost everyday, but then my depression hit me and now I have no motivation. Not, that I had much to begin with. It sits right in front of our television. We have a functional house, not a pretty one.

i would sit on mine while watching the tv…lol…

LOL!!! At least it is totally accessible. It isn’t being used for a drying rack or anything and has a new bottle of water in the cup holder…okay, I just eliminated all the excuses, except for the biggest: NO MOTIVATION OR ENERGY!!!

That’s great, keep it up!

I don’t remember much before B.C., but I bet it was better!

Purple13 Says:

I think it involved more fresh air than now

I’m with you Purple….been exercising again myself…the muffin tops are starting to roll over the jeans….lol. But I also try to meditate daily as well to keep the whole mind & body dynamic working together smoothly

Purple13 Says:

Does a half hour in the bubble pool count as meditation 0r relaxation? It was the quietest 10 mins of the day.
