GO! Open Your Eyes

May 26th, 2008 by mike

Mike here,

eyes.jpg

NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander touched down on the northern polar region of mars on the 25th May at 4.53pm pacific time. This is one of the first images it saw as it opened its eyes.

So when you opened your eyes this morning, what did you see? The vast arctic plains of Vastitas Borealis or something a bit more down to earth?

I saw that my alarm clock did not activate this morning and Moppet was once again late for school…
but after her arrival at school and my arrival at home I saw the NASA sight to see where they up to with this….
I love the Cheers from the command centre.. lol….
Life on Mars it may be possible, humans living on Mars it is enevitable… the only factor is when….

I wake up every morning, seeing my alarm clock has not been alarming me for some time now and I would straight away go to the bathroom, wash up and then head off to work..

Well, I was sideways when I woke up, just like the picture, but the view was a bit different and with less martians.

Yes, it was quite annoying…okay real answer. I actually do not remember because I am so sleepy when I wake up, but I do remember trying to put my slippers on. Now, whether that means my eyes were open or not remains a question. My husband doesn’t like me to try to run on the treadmill in the morning…he is afraid that I will hurt myself. He has good judgement. I still say my slippers

I saw the floor, since my stupid bed is broken!

Yay for the Phoenix Lander! Big party at NASA Control! I’ll bring the inflatable Martians.

I saw the toilet, had a big dinner to attend last night with lots of toasts with glasses of Bai Jou, was puking most of the night and most of this morning.

For those who have never drunk Bai Jou, its a strong Chinese spirit with strengths varying from 40% vol to 70% vol. The taste stays with you for days. Here in the North of China they love to drink - every toast involves gan bei (empty glass) so very quickly you end up in a right state - probably explains the bad redition of ‘Delilah’ in the KTV lounge afterwards.

For someone who is not a morning person…there is all that…how irritating. Don’t mean to mess with your party. I just hate mornings!!!

I saw my mate who was supposed to go back to London yesterday and I forgot they were here.

And that photo looks like the car park they’re building by me.

Congrats NASA - wouldn’t it have been funny if the first thing it saw was a smoking pile that used to be Beagle???

I see Mandy - the day can’t start any better than that.
