Congratulations flower smellers!
May 21st, 2008 by JimWell folks, time for more Flower Smeller badges to GO! to 5 more worthy folk:
This badge serves to acknowledge others who are, in their own way, smelling the flowers. They maybe regular visitors to this blog, one of our founders blogs or someone that could contribute here who is yet to visit! Maybe they have recovered from an illness, written a book, made waves in the blogosphere, won the lottery, made a major shift in their life, won promotion, quit the rat race, raising a family, discovering their greatness and on it GO!s as more examples from around the world start to surface. They may not even have an online presence at all - that’s where this award differs!
We’d like to present the honourary title of Flower Smeller to the following 5 who have either contributed to this community since the founders have been on board, have recently grabbed our attention in the blogosphere or are smelling their flowers in life in general. The 5 flowers smellers are as follows:
1) Nur Sarah Lam - The writing Angel who brightens up the posts here in the garden.
2) Helping other cope with depression over at Clinically Clueless.
3) Gullibility blog ran by Reasonable Robinson
4) A flowers fan in Ireland - Rashers running Jim’s blog.
5) Anok - the popular blogger behind identity check - infamous over a blogcatalog for contributions to the discussion boards!
These 5 and of course the founders of GO! Smell the flowers can now GO! award this badge to 5 other flower smellers of your choice! All we ask is when you do you contact us and let us know the 5 you choose so we can add them to the Flower Smeller section of this community and the flower smeller blogroll that is blossoming nicely!
Here are the list of rules to the blogs you are tagging for flower smellers & founders alike:
1. If you are awarded the flower smeller badge or are a founder of GO! Smell the flowers then pop the flower smeller badge up at your blog and award it to 5 others by writing a post with links to the 5 blogs or websites that you choose.
2. You can award this badge to a maximum of 5 people per month from now until eternity as and when you come across more flower smellers.
3. Link to this post so that people can find the origin of where the award started and find their way to this community.
4. Proudly display the Flower Smeller award with a link to the post that you wrote announcing your award.
5. All flower smellers - be prepared to be approached to write a 500 word account of yourself to feature in our 2009 book - The Flower Smellers that some of founders will be featuring in - here’s a few examples we prepared earlier, in PDF format for now over at The Flower Smellers page. As more badges are awarded we’ll start a blogroll of ‘Flower Smellers’ and also include the links in the page, the flower smellers.
So, there we have it, well done to the first five flower smellers! Please accept your award here in comments and then pay it forward and award it to 5 other flowers smellers of your choice - when you’ve awarded the badge do remember to contact us with the details. Cheers!

::and the crowd goes wild::

I am so glad to receive this flower smeller badge..been eyeing for that a long time..hahahahaha..
Congratulations!
That is very much my choice too! Well done guys, hopefully you will all stick around and get involved.
Feel free to award more flower smeller badges at a post here in the future Lib…
No problem, I just don’t know how to do it although I’m sure I’ve been told. Could you let me know?
All ya do is cut and paste our flower smeller post and change the 5 names to the bloggers / people of your choice in a special post in 3-4 weeks time - that should do it!
Cool, in the diary.
Nice one - they can be bloggers or non bloggers - people who have been here at GO! Smell the flowers or people you know who may add to things here and haven’t been on yet…
Its all good - when we award them we add them to our BLOGROLL - The flowers smellers which means we link to their website.
here, here to all the above… congrats to all the flower smellers… and what a lovely badge to display on your blog!!
A big round of applause to all the new flower smellers! Ya’ll deserve it.
Thank you so much!!! You made my day!! I am quite floored, not literally…that would hurt being that our 30 year + carpeting needs replacing…oh, back on topic. Wow, I saw this on someone’s sight and thought that would be a great way to promote this site on my blog because I love this place. But, I thought yeah, what are the chances with so many blogs and people and I only started on 5/8/08. But here I am and have already hung it in the sidebar with a title and caption. Being here for 14 days, is quite amazing. I don’t know very many people, but I do have five sites and people that I want to award this honor too because they have been amazing supporters and fellow traveler’s along a journey of mental illness and healing. They have been my inspirations. Thank you so much!!! I glad to be able to say, “It makes me happy!”
Well deserved CC and feel free to pass this on to 5 others, every month if you wish!
I’m honoured, not to say speechless. Imagine that… a speechless Irishman… the first ever
(Quick grab me a speechless Irishman is scarce as hens teeth — I might be worth money
)
I’ll be even more honoured to place the lovely badge on my blog with it linked to Go Smell the Flowers.
A little about me for those who don’t know (hey don’t walk out I won’t be long!)
In another post somewhere on Go I wrote briefly about an experience in the Congo. I had many similar experiences over the years in various parts of the world, until one day here in my home town I was caught in a narrow street by a terrorist bomb. That led to me experiencing what’s known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Imagine that. After all those years it had to happen in my own home town on what was the happiest day of my life up to that moment… it was the day my darling daughter was born and I had just seen her for the first time too. I’ll never forget how happy both my wife and I were, and I’d walked into that little street on my way to tell my parents the happy news.
Anyway, with a lot of help I beat the PTSD and then decided that I wanted to help others who were going through a similar experience to mine. So I went to college as a mature student (shurrup you who said an OLD student!
) and now I’m a counsellor to people who are dealing with all kinds of anxiety related conditions…. phobias like agoraphobia…. social phobia and so on. I’m giving a little back.
Well that’s me. Sorry for being so long winded… an Irish weakness for the gab
My daughter? We celebrate her little boy’s 2nd birthday today… my precious grandson… the apple of my eye.
Thank you. You have made my day.
Cheers Rashers,
You’ve supported GO! Smell the flowers and we hoped you’d share your story with the gang here - so thanks for that. The fact that life blindsided you that day has meant it’s become your purpose as a counsellor.
A true flowers smeller - thank YOU!
Thank you for sharing your story. It gave me chills, a warm heart and happy tears reading it!! What a wonderful life.
Eh, seriously these few days really bogged me down with piles of work and I am surprised to see that I have been awarded as Flower Smeller..Hahaha..Thank you so much founders..You are so kind..I appreciate this very much and I got to say one thing, GSTF is the best..
some of us our tulips, some of us are roses, some of us are petunias - hey we are all Flowers!
welcome aboard everyone.
Thank you! I love the flowers
Congratulations everyone!
