Go! Find What You Are Missing!
May 16th, 2008 by taylorblueI lost something in the house today…well actually my 5-year old son did. And I couldn’t find it anywhere. Do you know that feeling you get when you’ve lost something? It consumes you…your every thought! I couldn’t even work until I found that one thing. I ended up leaving the house because I felt trapped that I couldn’t find it. So on my way back a thought came back to me…the last time I saw this item it was at my desk. So there I went into the house and I looked under the desk…THERE IT WAS!
So all I needed was something else to distract me so I could think straight. How about you? How do you distract yourself when you can’t stop thinking?

When I can’t stop thinking? I surf the net for … erm.. entertaining stuff like this post.. Beat that for a 1 a.m distraction!
Jesus Christ, get a life!
Well you read it so it can’t be that bad…

Distracting myself is hard. After tearing everything apart and “scaring” my husband, he distracts me. Gives me a hug or helps me find it or both. If we both can’t find it, he gives me another hug and tells me it will be alright that it will turn up. If it is something replaceable, he tells me we can get another one. Hard to believe, but it is true…he is a blessing. Thanks for reminding me because this is not what I intended to write at the beginning, but this is what happens.

I lose my mind, where can I find it?

I always find what I’m looking for right after I’ve asked someone whether or not they’ve seen it. Murphy’s Law I suppose. So, you should have found your marbles by now.

Sometimes, things are meant to be NOT found..

When you are experienced at loosing thing as I am it just becomes everyday..
you throw your hands up in the air go and make a coffee… have a smoke kick the dog.. whatever.. remembering that when you no longer require the item, it will be right where you left and in plain view… and working perfectly wonderfully…
I have found that when looking or searching for something…..either inside my mind or in my environment and I just can’t seem to “find” whatever I’m looking for the best thing to do is stop “looking”….the mind will continue to search and seek an answer to whatever it is I am looking for and it will often come much easier if I stop consciously looking…..
Distraction for me is easy…I attribute it to my very SHORT attention span or burnt mind from the years of drug abuse…..all i need to do is look around me and will find fifty million things to distract myself with……
dishes in sink, wash dishes, chair, flowers, plant seeds in garden, green grass, mow lawn, socks on floor, do laundry, clean basement….oooooh that’s where my sweatshirt is…my mind tends to follow a visual line of thought…overstimulating and often maddening but definitely a way to keep me busy.

I tear everything apart until I am exhausted or overwhelmed then give up. Usually a few days later I’ll remember. I generally do not misplace things, so it is a big deal when I do. One time though I lost my gold cross and found it on Easter Sunday when my Grandpa accepted Jesus into his life. I had lost the cross for four years…I knew it was somewhere. Talk about resurrection Sunday!!! (I don’t mean to offend others…just sharing my life)

Jim here…
I often get ‘man blindness’
Looking for something that is right in front of my eyes! Only today after my back-to-eating-lunch (salad) I was looking for the salt, which, low on behold, when I asked the waiter he showed me…
Right in front of me.
It happens with stuff in the cupboards / fridge aswell - I think it’s an attention span thing.
Sunglasses, car keys and golf balls are my 3 most commonly lost items.
Lol Jim,i never look past the first row of jars either!
Salt, surely the new age diet fads must somewhere have a list developed by a bearded, unqualified, ‘expert’ stating adding extra salt as bad Chakra and mean you will suddenly have 90 kilos of undigested, rotting vegetable matter trapped in your lower colon for the next 25 years requiring liberal cleansing by shoving 2 gallons of ribena up your bung hole.
If not I think I’ve found a hole in the market (excuse thed pun) for you.
Sea salt is a must in the diet here in the UAE - it was after a game of golf in 36 degree C heat…
OHM.
It’s mad isn’t it,if someone ask’s me the a question like “Who sang this song?”,sometimes it’s days then…BANG!! It comes to you from nowhere!
