GO! Smell Fab photo gifts!

March 30th, 2008 by Jim & Em

So picture the scene. - we were about to send the complete manuscript of GO! Smell the flowers to a potential agent in London.

‘There must be something different we could do to send with the book?’ We said. ‘ Something a bit…..different ‘.

Later that day in a discussion thread the gang at Fabulous photo gifts (AKA Flowers founder Purple 13 AKA Jonathan) suggested we tried a jigsaw version of our book cover.

That weekend the UK based Fab photo gifts team worked their magic and on the Monday morning the agent had not only our manuscript but a jigsaw version of our book cover that was very well received. We’re Tom Peter fans so do click the jigsaw piece or our book cover for a taste of Tom. We’ve had comments on his blog over the last couple of years and met the man himself…we think he’d like the agile reaction and slim line efficiency that Fab photo gifts shared with us. In fact, heres Tom in action….

How did the Fab team respond so quickly without sacrificing quality? We’d love to know. Thanks for GOing the extra mile for us Fabulous photo gifts!

We’d love to know how you did it and if anyone else has had any recent experiences of great service -service that relishes GO!ng the extra mile. Do tell! Thanks again flowers founder Fab photo gifts - you’ve a customer in Dubai now - us!

Hi Jim and Em (and everyone else at GSTF’s)

Apologies in advance to Angry’ but this may come across as a bit of a plug for Fab’ Photo’s (hopefully not hyper linking that will convince him and others?? hmm) anyway where was I? Oh yes - the question…. the answer….

As you’ve read, we did indeed suggest a photo jigsaw showing the book cover might be a way to attract and keep the attention of the manuscript sorter - apparently they get so many you see - and we know that jigsaws are a very tactile and interest keeping item. Remember the old Laurel and Hardy scene - the wedding party where Stan brings the happy couple a jigsaw for something to do on their honeymoon?

So we thought the book cover jigsaw had loads of possibilities and so did Jim and Em. There followed a few hurried emails as time was against us on this one, but hey that’s why they call them ‘rush jobs’.

Jim and Em chose our 24 piece wooden jigsaw which we print and produce in our own workshops so a) we’re able to control the quality and reproduction and b) we can work through the night when urgency dictates. They are all printed by hand!

As an extra, we also provided Jim and Em’ with a 15 piece version so that their agent (who received the delivery in London) was able to make a choice on which looked better and then forward the other as a ‘keepsake’ to Jim and Em. - Glad you finally received it guys.

We were thrilled to be able to help and at such short notice - we were equally thrilled to receive such positive feedback as well.

Here comes the plug…. Although we are always thrilled to recieve customer feedback, a few of which I actually get round to publishing on the website or blog, we shouldn’t really be so surprised some would say - we do put a lot of care and attention into reproducing customers photographs onto their chosen gift idea so that they are really delighted with the finished result. We believe going this extra mile goes a long way to explaining the volume of customer feedback we receive (quite un-bidden) and the amount of customers that return to us for their next photo gift giving occassion.

Sometimes, I appreciate this may all come across as a bit of self ‘flag waving’ but as my old teacher used to say… don’t be afraid to shout your own praises - there are precious few others that will do that for you.

To see what Jim and Em got so excited about - here’s a link to Fabulous Photo Gifts - http://www.fabulousphotogifts.co.uk

Thanks Guys - let us know when the next manuscripts going off.

Never apologise for plugging what you do so well - tell em, tell em and tell em again - you could start a Forum topic on Fab Photo gifts here and take questions throughout the year…….we’ll be going for the GSTF tray next we think and could pick up when we’re in the UK in July….

Would you mind bullet pointing your core product offer here in comments?

Yeah, that does sound like a great idea for your book. Hopefully the publishers will like it enough to run with the idea! Sounds like it would make a great coffee table style book.
