GO! Get my Book - and only Pay What YOU Like!

Get the Life you Love and Live it

Arvind here, fresh from a day of early March sunshine - it seems like it is already Spring!

To mark the new season of hope and fresh beginnings, I am running a special offer for my book “Get the Life you Love and Live it” - you only pay what YOU like, plus postage and packing……

GO! Get your copy today

The book usually retails for £9.99 (U.S $20) plus postage, but you can now get it for whatever price you wish to pay plus postage, anywhere in the world. You simply pay what you feel the book is worth to you.

(Keep it quiet, but apart from the postage, you can even get it for FREE!)

So why am I making this offer?

I feel I am now back in the swing of things after a few months of grieving, rest, reflection and recuperation and it is time to celebrate life with renewed vigour and energy. This is my way of giving something back to the people out there who have been so supportive of me over the last few difficult months.

Also, I really believe in the value my book offers, and I want to spread my message and work as widely as possible. My intention is that a lot of people will benefit from this book - and will also get it for their family and friends.

Time to make things happen - and do please help me spread the word.

Good luck with it Arvind and how many copies did you do on this print run, out of interest?

Are you in bookstores yet?

arvind Says:

Fab - 4,043 copies in this print run. The odd 43 because they used up the whole reel of paper and is the “overrun.”

As for bookstores, I am in Borders nationally here in the UK and in selected Waterstones stores :-)

Since I am self-published, I do all my own marketing online and offline, hence this promotional offer..

Gareth In China Says:

My advice would have been to hit a deal with the postal companies, great way to increase distribution and make a few quid commission eh?
Then you can tell publishers of any future books your last one did XXXX copies and make a few quid in the process, everyone loves the thought of a bargain. Postage and packing - ?7.99, book free - it’d work.

arvind Says:

Thanks Gareth - maybe I can hire you as my sales agent for my next book. Just think how many we can sell in China!

arvind’s last blog post..Get my Book - and only Pay What YOU Like!

You have a version translated? Is it traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese?
If not then selling in China would be folly. I could get it translated for you for a fee. I could also look into getting it approved for pulication and distribution by the government.
Understand your market Mr, don’t simply rush in.
Good job I’m here I tell you.

Lib Says:

Good for you Arvind, I am wondering what the marketing strategy is?

Seriously, this seems to be an increasingly common tactic, giving products away or asking the consumer to name their price.

I am genuinely interested as to why this is happening.

arvind Says:

Lib - The marketing strategy here is simple - spread my work.

I feel what I write about makes a huge difference to people’s lives, and if it selling it at a price they choose helps to spread my work, then so be it.

RYK Says:

The big question is, is a book the way to go? who reads books these days? There was a select group that read when there was only telly, who didn’t get satisfaction from the idiot box; but now with the internet and things like blogging, are people reading books anymore?

I look at my own own case. I used to read quite a lot till 1.5 years back, then all these social sites came up where I could write and read all kinds of people like Angry, Urban & GC which no self respecting publisher would bet money on, and suddenly books disappeared. Now I’m armed with my laptop, my global wi-fi cards and I don’t read books anymore. I can’t wait to get onto my fav blogs, my social sites, my google news, digg, email, etc. This really hit home when I bought myself a set of books which are lying unread for a year now; and another set with the same fate bought 6 months back.

Should authors move beyond books? Are blogs the new books: People following authors as an online community and providing a richer experience than a one way read ?

Not sure if that works for fictional book. But then wonder how much fiction, people will read. Will it be relegated to beach vacations? Do you need fictional books for entertainment/relaxation now that you have access to original creatives in YouTube and blogs like these?

I think time for a Poll, which for some strange reason only I can post (more about this in tech support thread in the forum):

Gareth In China Says:

I am an avid reader of books.
Generally 2 fiction to one none fiction is the usual ratio.
About 2 or three books a month is the usual quantity.

Bridget Jones Says:

Ditto Bridget. I have a passion for literature since a child and I studied it at school, so I will disagree that the net and you-tube can replace the magic that a talented author can create in books. Plus you discover a country’s culture and history partly through its authors. Currently reading a fiction (White Fangs - for the 3rd time and no the appeal does not diminish!) and a true story. More on that later..

Urban Pagan Says:

no self respecting publisher?

I’ve already contributed to a book and have therefore been published.

perhaps some publishers actually like truth over theory?

Bridget Jones Says:

Jim & Em Says:

Do tell Urban,

We guess its related to football, right?

Any book sales yet Arvind?

Arvind Says:

Jim - 3 sales so far and counting.

I gave away a free copy at an exhibition last saturday and have just received a wonderful email of thanks - I will share more about this in a future post :-)

Jim & Em Says:

Great, good for you Arvind!
